Jérôme Garcin, president of the 42nd edition of the Book Fair

Jérôme Garcin, recognized writer and host of the radio show The mask and the feather, will chair the 42nd edition of the Brive Book Fair, from November 8 to 10, 2024.

The biography of Jérôme Garcin, President of the 2024 Book Fair

Journalist and writer, Jérôme Garcin hosted for 35 years (1989-2024) The mask and the feather, the cult show from France Inter. He also directed the editorial staff of the cultural pages of the magazines l'Express and le Nouvel Obs.

In parallel with his medical activities, Jérôme Garcin is the author of numerous often award-winning works such as: For Jean Prévost (Gallimard, 1994, Prix Médicis Essay), The Fall of a Horse (Gallimard, 1998, Roger Nimier Prize) or The Last Winter of the Cid (Gallimard, 2019, Prix des Deux Magots).

More recently, Jérôme Garcin received the 2008 Prince Pierre of Monaco Prize and the 2013 Henri-Gal Grand Prize for Literature from the Institut de France for all of his work.

The President invites around ten guests as part of his programme, which he has designed to be very literary, but also very much imbued with literary criticism.
In addition to a major interview during which he will look back on his career as a writer and journalist, Jérôme Garcin wanted to schedule several meetings.

  • Conversations with Rachida Brakni (Kaddour, Stock) and Martha Keller (Scenes from my life, Presses de la Cité)
  • Jacaranda, a musical reading of Gael Faye (Grasset) and Samuel Kamanzi (guitar)
  • Faces and Hands, an exhibition by the photographer Hannah Assouline, texts by Jerome Garcin.
