Rugby: the essentials to survive
In Gaillard country, rugby is a religion and if you are one of those who don't know much about it, you risk finding yourself lost during CA Brive matches or during discussions around the subject! So just for you, here are the essentials to survive:
- A rugby match is: 15 players, 7 substitutes, 80 minutes and 3 halves (the 3rd is for the more festive among you).
- The aim of the game is to score a try (not a goal, be careful what you say). It is scored when a player places the ball behind the line.
- A knock-on is when the player with the ball loses control and drops it towards the opponent's goal line. By hand, passes are made backwards. In the back, in the tail, on the back, behind what.
- A drop is a kick that falls but is not hurt.
- When players fit together strangely shoulder to shoulder, there is nothing emotional about it. It's a melee. The players push to try to recover the ball (maybe they take the opportunity to exchange cooking recipes, we don't know).
- Offside: pretend to have understood.
