Christmas Eves very often begin with Christmas mass and it is a highlight of the end-of-year celebrations in general. Practitioners and non-practitioners alike flock to this very popular celebration. They are often called midnight masses even though they often do not take place at such a late hour. On this occasion, living, artisanal nativity scenes or scenes decorated with santons are installed in churches to stage the Nativity.

Living Nativity Scene in Brive-La-Gaillarde on the Parvis of the Collegiate Church of Saint-Martin on Saturday, December 14.

From December 1, 2024 to January 5, 2025, the Visites en Périgord Association invites you to discover themed nativity scenes at tourist sites including:

  • the Forte House of Reignac, open from 10 a.m. to 18 p.m. (closed on 25/12 and open on January 1 from 13 p.m. to 17 p.m.)
  • the Proumeyssac Chasm, descent of Santa Claus in a gondola every day of the holidays (open from 10 a.m. to 13 p.m. and from 14 p.m. to 17 p.m.). Visits with Santa Claus at 11 a.m., 15 p.m. and 16 p.m.
  • la Roque Saint-Christophe will present a giant nativity scene made of sculpted hay and natural materials. Site open every day from 10 a.m. to 17:30 p.m. (closed on 25/12 and open on January 1 from 13 p.m. to 17 p.m.)

  • 17:00 p.m.: Summer

  • 17:30 p.m.: Brive (Church of Our Lady of Lourdes in Estavel)

  • 17:30 p.m.: Objat
  • 18 p.m.: Allassac, Juillac, Sainte-Féréole, Turenne
  • 20:00 p.m.: Donzenac, Malemort, St-Pantaléon-de-Larche
  • 21:00 p.m.: Objat
  • 21:30 p.m.: Brive (Sacred Heart of Rosiers Church)

Masses for Monday, December 25, 2023:

  • 10:30 a.m.: Ayen, Sadroc, Saint-Viance
