European Sustainable Development Week

Sustainability Week actually lasts several weeks and takes place from September 18 to October 8, 2024.

The United Nations has adopted 17 sustainable development goals to be implemented by 2030. In our Gaillard region, initiatives are being taken and deserve to be highlighted during this week.

The Ecolot: competition

Brive Tourisme is organizing a competition from September 20 to October 8: "The Ecolot".

6 prizes are up for grabs. You will be able to discover good deals and ideas for committed stays offering you an experience that respects our environment.

Wednesday, September 18 

  • Educational apartment Face Limousin in Tujac (44, rue Jean Baptiste Toulzac): Glass marker making and water saving workshop – Register with Ms. Mélanie ROUX, Educational apartment facilitator on 06 14 51 37 41.
  •  Entertainment at the Parc des Perrières in Brive : day dedicated to the social centers of Brive as well as to the general public, on the theme of water and biodiversity with three events:
    - The creation of a water fresco by the SIAV - 5 to 8 people - duration of 3 hours with the EAU'DYSSEE association
    - A fun animation on the water cycle, punctuated by scientific experiments to discover the path of domestic water and the importance of preserving the territory's water resources
    - A visit to the Brive Apiary by the Corrézienne Bee Association – the role of bees in biodiversity, how honey is produced, pollination, etc. Presentation of the glass hive and film on bees.
  • Nature outing organized by the New Aquitaine Natural Spaces Conservatory : Sheltered by the caves and cliffs of the Valley (meeting at 13:45 p.m.) - Come and discover the particular plant communities of the caves and cliffs of the Planchetorte Valley.

  • Visit to the St Jean Lagineste sorting center (LOT) – departure by bus (free) 13:30 p.m. from the 3 Provinces car park for arrival at 14:30 p.m. Plan a 2-hour visit on site. Registration required with Ms. Pagnon of SIRTOM: mpagnon@sirtom-brive.fr

Thursday, September 19 

  • Face Limousin educational apartment in Tujac (44, rue Jean Baptiste Toulzac): Visit the educational apartment along the water at 14:30 p.m. Register with Ms. Mélanie ROUX, Educational Apartment Facilitator at 06 14 51 37 41.

Friday 20 September 

  • Zero Waste Aperitif, at the initiative of the Brive Zéro Déchet association at the Auboiroux square in partnership with the traders of the Halle Gaillarde. Each person brings what they want but in the end no waste must remain.
    The city of Brive/OME will offer a drink at this event to mark the start of the 3-week program: 
    - Animation of a Water Bar Suez to promote tap water
    - Promotion of the Brive Child-Friendly City partnership and link with UNICEF actions
    - La ressourcerie Gaillarde: bicycle repair workshop with educational support from Atout Vélo and bicycle school workshop with theoretical and practical courses from ADER mobilité
    - Brive Cycling City : awareness-raising action on traffic rules in urban areas and cycle tours
  • The Athéna Studio association: synthesizer manufacturing workshop with old toys


Saturday, September 21 

  • The Brive Zero Waste Association : In the morning: workshop and awareness stand during the sale in the Emmaüs store in Brive
  •  The Zero Waste Brive association: Afternoon: from 14 p.m. to 17 p.m. zero waste workshop Fresque du Climat at the Brive cultural center in partnership with MAIF - FREE // Register at 05 55 74 20 51


Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 September 

  • Clean Up Day : The districts of the city of Brive are mobilizing for this occasion. Citizen action of cleaning with collection of abandoned waste polluting the environment.
    Participations from districts 2, 5, 7, 9, 12 and 17 of the City of Brive.

Monday September 23 

  •  Objat: intervention of the housing department of the Agglo de Brive : from 9 a.m. to 18 p.m., information day on housing for landlords at Objat town hall. Personalized discussions without appointment.


Tuesday September 24

  • The green spaces department of the city of Brive offers you an afternoon guided tour of tree heritage (remarkable trees) of the city center of Brive by Monsieur Arbre – Discover the city’s vibrant trees by strolling through the streets, squares and gardens.   • Visit to the Brive wastewater treatment plant for children from Brive social centers.
  • The New Aquitaine Natural Spaces Conservatory offers a participatory construction site: “From the wet valley with dry hillsides » from 9:30 am: the morning will be dedicated to the fencing of several ponds in order to protect their surroundings from cattle trampling. The afternoon will be dedicated to counteracting the dynamics of overgrowth on a marl lawn. Depending on the temperatures of the day, these two sites may be interchanged - Bring suitable clothing and a picnic.   • The ARBRE association offers two actions:
    - TREE : Book Collection in partnership with the education department and schools of the city of Brive
    - Collection of used batteries in schools.
