8 trail routes on the Vézère side

8 trail routes await you around the Saillant, Allassac and Voutezac. The difficulties vary both in distance (from 7.8 km to 50 km) and in elevation (from 117 D+ to 1532 D+).

All our courses can be viewed on ON TRACK, or directly below, by circuit.

Participants in a Trail in Corrèze.

1 green trail route

  • Route 1: The short route 7.8km 117D+ 6 green
Easy loop, only one climb, a small technical section in the ensuing descent. The rest of the route will take you through the Saillant, an old wine-growing village, and finish with a rolling track to return to the base.

2 blue trail routes

  • Route 2: Vézère and plain 10.3km 149D+ 7 blue
This easy route is similar to the first. The start is similar. Once arrived at the Saillant, the route goes up the course of the Vézère to the power station. There, once the river has passed, a gradual climb, partly on a wooden footbridge, will take you to the village of Saillant Vieux. After a short but steep descent, return to the base via the rolling tracks of the plain.

  • Route 3: Vézère and vineyards 11.5km 322D+ (one climb of 200m of D+) 8 blue
This route is almost the same distance as number 2, but be careful the difference in altitude is doubled! On this course everything goes in pairs, two Saillants (the Saillant and the Old Saillant), two beautiful climbs, plus a small one in the middle, and two beautiful descents, one of which is very technical. This route is a summary of what the trail offers in our territory while remaining accessible due to its distance. Crossing the vineyards you can enjoy an exceptional panorama.

3 red trail courses

  • Route 4: The Vézère gorges 11km 337D+ T4 (1 climb of 200m of D+) 10 red
Be careful, short but brutal course! a first easy climb to get you in shape, a quick descent, then the serious things begin. Technical climb in the stones, on the Vertougit orientation table. What follows: a sequence of paths along the hillsides, then the steep descent to the Vézère. The return profile seems easy. But if the difference in altitude is low, the technicality of the single track that awaits you will bring down your average, ending up with an easy return to the base.

  • Route 5: The 2 tables 19km 609D+ T4 (1 climb of 200m of D+ and one of 250 of D+) 12 red
This course is inspired by an old mountain race which took place at Le Saillant in the early 2000s: “the round of the 2 tables”. The first loop will take you on circuit 4. Once you leave the single track of the dams, you leave for a second loop which will take you to the belvedere of the rock. This circuit offers you magnificent panoramas, and also two beautiful climbs of more than 200m each.

  • Route 6: The 2 gorges. 29km 810D+ T3 (a climb of 200m of D+ and one of 250 of D+) 16 red
This route takes up circuit 4 in the Vézère gorges with a big bonus: the discovery of the plateau (not so flat). The town of Voutezac built on the hillside, and the Vaysse gorges, wild and preserved. This journey is a roller coaster. We constantly go through climbs, descents and technical zones. Managing your pace will be important to enjoy this circuit well.

2 black trail courses

  • Route 7: The grand tour of the Salient -37km 1100D+ T3 (3 climbs of 200 to 250 m of D+) 19 black
If you are passing through Corrèze and you don't have time to try all our routes, this is the loop that you must do. This route brings together circuits 4,5 and 6. You are setting off for a demanding circuit which will take you over 1000m in altitude. Several viewpoints will be there to reward your efforts. Sticks are recommended.

  • Route 8: The 50K 48km 1532D+ T3 (4 climbs of more than 200m of D+) 24 black
This route, ideal for preparing for an ultra, takes up circuit 7 with an in-depth discovery of the Vaysse gorges. Leaving the valley, you will head to the village of Vignols to run under the 19th century SNCF viaducts. If so much construction was necessary, it is because the terrain is difficult. On this long route you will be able to stock up on water in the town of Vignols. 1500m of positive altitude difference awaits you.
