Rebuilt in the 1745th century. on the feudal mound, the Château de Pompadour was remodeled in the XNUMXth century. It was given in XNUMX, with the title of Marquise, to the famous favorite of Louis XV. Partly destroyed during the Revolution, it suffered a fire in the XNUMXth century.
Of the important fortress, only the south wing and the outer wall remain. The facade, with its machicolation walkway, is flanked by large pepper towers.
An entrance gate leads to a large terrace surrounded by ditches and flanked by seven low towers. It currently houses a stud farm, royal in 1761 then became national in 1872.
