Guided tour: Brive, its History and Heritage
BRIVE-LA-GAILLARDE
Brive has been a place of passage for the Corrèze since prehistory, the agglomeration which was created in the 5th century around the sanctuary of Saint-Martin the Spaniard, took advantage of this crossroads situation to develop. A fortified city at least since the 12th century, it knows how to play alliances with powerful neighboring lords and reversals of allegiance towards France and the Duke of Aquitaine (King of England). During a walk along these streets, you will discover beautiful Renaissance and classical architecture and the Saint-Martin collegiate church offers beautiful examples of Romanesque and Gothic architecture. Meet at the Tourist Office at Place du 14 Juillet in Brive. Price: €5 (from 12 years old). Duration: 1h30.
