Once again, the winner of the Goncourt will be present at the Brive Book Fair from November 10 to 12, 2023 as well as the two other finalists. 

The most prestigious prize, the Goncourt

The Goncourt Prize is the best-known and oldest literature prize in France. It is awarded each year at the beginning of November by the Académie Goncourt after two pre-selections among the books edited and published during the year. This prize was, in fact, created to reward each year “ the best work of imagination in prose, published in the year ". It is attributed almost exclusively to a novel.

Le Goncourt 2023 

Jean-Baptiste Andrea is the 2023 winner of the famous literary prize, for his love-friendship novel "Watch over her". (Editions: L’Iconoclaste).

This idealist who has a habit of abandoning himself to the imagination relates a love-friendship story between an insolent little girl and a boy sculptor of an enigmatic Pietà. This novel is set in Italy and evokes the two world wars then the transition to modernity.

He will sign his novel on November 10, 11 and 12 and will be in the spotlight at two meetings: 

  • Romantic, Saturday November 11 at 14:30 p.m. at the Halle Georges Brassens surrounded by Laurent Binet and Nicolas Chemla
  • The awards season, Sunday November 12 at 11 a.m. at the Théâtre de Brive.
