A little history around the CAB and the ASM

It was at the beginning of the 1910th century that rugby made its appearance in the Massif Central. The CAB was created in XNUMX from the merger of two clubs, the Briviste football club and the Gaillard stadium. A year later, the Michelin firm, on the initiative of its director Marcel Michelin, created the Michelin sports association, which originally aimed at the well-being and development of the company's workers.

The two clubs were created at the same time, the first confrontation took place on January 16, 1927 in Clermont-Ferrand. It is important to note that the Brivists will not succeed in winning against their main pre-war rival.

After the war, the two clubs will face each other in important matches such as the quarter-finals of the French championship in 1949 where the CAB won for the first time against the ASM, which will allow it to reach the semi-finals. -championship finals for the first time in its history. From the 2000s onwards, the derby gradually became a derby of extremes. ASM will maintain the ascendancy over the Gaillard club for the majority of matches although there have been some great victories on the CAB side.
