Travassac and its sides

From the XNUMXth to the XNUMXth century, more than two hundred workers came to the slate quarry every day. Thus, the village was gradually built around the site until it welcomed its first inhabitants. The first houses are easily recognizable since they were made of blue black slate stone. High place in Corrèze and unique in Europe, a must-see: the sections of Travassac. These are trenches bordered by quartzite walls.

Voutezac, vines in bouquets

Located on the ancient paths of Santiago de Compostela, Voutezac is one of those charming villages that make up our great heritage! You will notably discover the Saillant bridge: built by monks in the 6th century, it made it easier to transport wine. You can also taste the wines of Coteaux du Saillant. The Saillant chapel also has XNUMX magnificent stained glass windows, created by the famous painter Marc CHAGALL at the request of the Lasteyrie du Saillant family.

Donzenac and its Saint John the Baptist Statue

This city is a true vestige of the Middle Ages. Find out why this small village is nicknamed the “Key to the Portal of the South”, with its strange lock shape. You can admire three statues there, two women and a man (Saint John the Baptist). If you walk in the upper part of Donzenac, you will see real architectural masterpieces with houses dating from the XNUMXth century.
