Built in the 15th century, the castle was remodeled in the 17th, 19th and 20th centuries.
From the original castle there remains a rectangular building close to the square, as well as machicolations.
Remains of military architecture in the basement and Mansard roof.
The castle has preserved its moat with white water coming from the Vézère.
Date of MH protection in 1979 and 1997.
Other protected elements: 17th century barn and sheepfold, 16th century wall paintings in the living room.
In the 13th century, the Comborn were lords of the Salient.
In the 14th century, the estate was acquired by Guy de Lasteyrie. The Lasteyrie became viscounts of Comborn, marquis of Saillant and Objat as well as grand seneschals of Limousin.

The castle is part of a group listed on the inventory of Picturesque Sites in 1945.

Private castle closed to the public.
Gardens accessible during the annual Vézère Festival.
