The church was part of a vast priory dependent on the Abbey of “la Chaise Dieu” (Auvergne). The religious wars in the XNUMXth and XNUMXth centuries left their mark on this Romanesque building, of which only the choir and the overflowing transept remain today. To protect itself and counter possible attacks, the church was fortified in the XNUMXth century: a watchtower and defensive towers were added. Inside, an ambulatory, typical of pilgrimage churches, surrounds the choir with raised arcades. The lightness of the elevation and the sculpted decorations are remarkable. A XNUMXth century Christ. also deserves attention.
