EDF Saillant Hydroelectric Site
VOUTEZAC
The EDF hydroelectric dam of the salient, 28 meters high, has been in service since 1929 and nestled in the heart of a Natura 2000 classified area. The hydroelectric site is equipped with four groups operating continuously which produce the equivalent of the annual consumption in electricity for the towns of Tulle and Malemort. This industrial heritage is at the crossroads of several existing hiking loops (GR 46, GRP of the Vézère gorges). Two developed hiking trails will allow you to travel along the banks of the Vézère, get close to the hydroelectric plant and the dam to discover the history of the site and its environmental riches. A viewing window, installed at the hydroelectric plant, allows you to observe the turbines in action.
Guided tours are offered by the Land of Art and History in July-August.
