At the top of Puy d'Yssandon, at the entrance to the small village perched at an altitude of 360 meters, the silhouette of a tower can be seen. This site was known very early for its strategic defensive location: a Gallic oppidum is said to have existed there and Pepin the Short confronted Waïfre the Duke of Aquitaine there in the XNUMXth century.

But this still imposing tower is the last vestige of a medieval castle which was destroyed during the Hundred Years' War in the XNUMXth century. Today, picnic tables allow visitors to stop while enjoying a landscape of hillocks and beautiful panoramas of the surroundings of Puy.
