At the top of Turenne Castle

The castle is located on a hillock at the impassable limit of the Midi-Pyrénées region. The central piece of the village, the heart, the reason for existence of Turenne is the castle ! It is to Turenne what the Eiffel Tower is to Paris. It’s a bit like “Brive” and “Gaillarde” it’s INDISOSOCIABLE!

Once the village has been climbed, we arrive at the castle which is at the top of a 20m cliff and it is there in the middle of the French garden that we realize that we have gained height... A lot height ! Just a few more steps and we are there, perched in the sky at the top of the Caesar Tower.

A magical view, which dominates the entire valley, the panorama is as far as the eye can see, one could almost see to the east, the Auvergne farmer who makes his cheeses, to the south, the gates of the Ville Rose and its barges which travel the Garonne, and to the west, the Périgord with the Lascaux caves.

We feel free, and when we know the history of Turenne it’s a nice wink.
