Well, we have to say something: Caesar never set foot in Allassac… You are disappointed, we know. But wait, don’t leave just yet: we promise you that this medieval tower is worth the detour…

Here is the truth, the whole truth, nothing but the truth: here Caesar does not refer to the most famous Roman, named Julius, but to the word “Caesar”, which means Overlord. It's simple : Allassac was a fortified city, guarded by the bishops of Limoges who were these famous overlords. In the heart of Allassac, a tower was erected in the Middle Ages to defend the town... In reality, it served very little as a defense because the bishops of Limoges paid ransoms to enemies so as not to be besieged... The smart ones!

And this old lady is well preserved... We can even reveal her measurements to you: 30 meters high, 16 meters in circumference, 2 m thick walls... There is no risk of her collapsing right away! She is classified as a historic monument, it is the only vestige of 2002th century military art in Limousin and it is in Allassac! A superb renovation was carried out in XNUMX to make its visit possible.

The guardian of the tower reveals all her secrets to you: she will meet you in  July and August from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 14 p.m. to 18 p.m. for the modest sum of 1€50, and what's more, everyone can climb there, even the little ones, accompanied of course.

(visit by reservation for groups all year round)
