The Pans de Travassac tourist site offers the opportunity to discover the world of slate workers who have worked since the 17th century to work stone in an exceptional setting. Between the cliffs, the minerals and the plants, the mix is perfect to offer us a majestic spectacle.
What are the Pans de Travassac?
We are on an old serviced and secure slate quarry. The Pans are immense blades of rock which have not been exploited. The spaces in which we circulate correspond to the slate which was extracted, shaped and cut to cover the roofs of Corrèze and many other places.
This site is dually exceptional because the vein is still exploited in the valley and the slate workers who take part in the visit are still active. Which is becoming rare in our regions.
An ancestral know-how
Slate workers work the stone with the ancestral gestures of reballing, splitting and cutting. With the expertise of these men, a stone becomes a slate. You will find at the heart of a gallery, a museum retracing the history and life of the Travassac slate workers through the centuries. A family visit that teaches children as much as adults.

- May, June, September and October: every Sunday and public holidays, guided tours depart every 30 minutes from 14:30 p.m. to 17:30 p.m.
- July and August: every day, guided tours depart every 30 minutes from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and from 14:30 p.m. to 17:30 p.m.
- April and November by reservation only (groups of 20 people minimum)
