Published on April 3, 2023 by Karine Good

This year, the Routard Guide is celebrating its 50th anniversary! And for the occasion, it's getting a little facelift or rather a makeover.

The Routard spirit is: freedom and independence of mind, discovery and sharing, sincerity, tolerance and respect for others. It remains the essential No. 1 travel guide in France.

We love the Routard guide for its good tips, its frankness and its favorites. More photos, rewritten texts, and new addresses to discover in Pays de Brive! We'll break it all down for you.

The new addresses of the Guide du Routard for sleeping

The new Routard addresses to enjoy

  • The Halle Gaillarde: with its range of world and local cuisine stands!
  • The Pic Vert Cave in Brive: and Pierre's good advice (we even learn that before the phylloxera epidemic at the end of the XNUMXth century, the surface area of the Corrèze vineyards was the same as that of the Alsatian vineyard!)
  • Olivier Wines in Larche : we take the time to stop and chat with this enthusiast in this small town 15 minutes from Brive. Advice and oenology lessons guaranteed!
  • The Pins farm in Chartrier-Ferrière : where Sandrine and Gilles raise their sheep on the Causse Corrézien and produce cheeses and yogurt including the famous “fote des Bergères”
  • Lachèze House: we no longer present this institution in Saint Aulaire or in Objat, where we come to sit down to taste a calf's head in particular or to have a bite to eat on market days
  • Bistrot Potes in Donzenac : for simple and fresh cuisine entirely homemade
  • Valentin le Glacier in Brive : for its range of organic ice creams in summer, and its waffles and hot chocolate in winter

New sites to discover

The La Roche site in Allassac : another favorite of the Routard, for its point of view, on the Gorges de la Vézère and its landscaped area! You can even come and have a picnic or practice the Via Ferrata ! provided you are well equipped!

Wise advice from the Routard

Our friends the PoHTes are entering the Routard this year! The PoHTe can be a grocery store, a bakery, a café, a town hall, a postal agency, a press house, etc. an emblematic place in the village that tourists cannot avoid! Objat, Juillac, Saint Robert, Donzenac are among those cited in the guide.

Produced in collaboration with the editorial staff of the Guide du Routard and Brive Tourisme, it is a very good spotlight for the providers who appear in this emblematic guide.

Thank you to the Routard guide for this beautiful presentation and its beautiful descriptions which make you want to discover the country of Brive.
