Two spellings for the same mushroom… But not just any mushroom!

Of Asian origin, this mushroom is very popular because it can be easily cultivated, so you can become a real mushroom grower in no time. In addition, it has a reputation for being good for your health. It is also widely used in Chinese medicine. Endowed with exceptional nutritional properties (296kcal/100g): it offers a content of vitamins B5, B2, B3, potassium, iron, zinc and copper… in short, it is a real source of energy! Some even claim that it could have a beneficial effect on cancers and HIV thanks to the lentinan present in this mushroom. This statement must be put into perspective: it is more of a treatment support. Research is underway to verify the veracity of these statements.

How to recognize shiitake?


Shiitake has a convex cap 5 to 15 cm in diameter. It is reddish-brown in color and has white woolly strands. Its foot is white and cylindrical. Concerning the flesh of the shiitake it must be whitish.

How to consume shiitake?

Be careful, it is best not to eat it raw to avoid any risk of an inflammatory reaction.
You can cook it in any sauce: in omelettes, in a pie, as a side dish or even in a sauce.
