The Dordogne river is the common thread of this route via the departments of Corrèze, Lot and Dordogne.

What is the Nut Route?

The Road to Perigord walnuts offers discovery and tourist itineraries around 4 PDO varieties Périgord nuts: Franquette, Grandjean, Corne and Marbot. The PDO products concerned are fresh walnuts, dried walnuts and kernels.

During your journey, you will encounter sites such as distilleries, mills, museums, honey farms, artisans and producers, local markets and restaurants. They will allow you to better understand the history of the Noix du Périgord.

The walnut experimental station

You can also go to the walnut experimental station located in Creysse. The role of this station is to implement and carry out a Walnut experimentation program. They favor the sector aspect while taking into account new technical and economic imperatives of the sector. This site, run by the Professional Walnut and Walnut Kernel Union of Périgord, is a source of references but also a place of exchange for the production of South-West walnuts.

Where to eat on the Walnut Route?

If you are feeling a little peckish, you can stop at a farm inn like that of Marie-Claude and Jean-Luc Castagné “Walnut oil mill”. A stone's throw from Martel, they deliver premium quality oil, while offering generous menus based on duck, nuts and lamb.
