The history of the pea in Corrèze

For years, this little vegetable was cultivated on our land and a more or less controlled name emerged from it: Objat capital of Petits-Pois.

These good years were made possible thanks to the arrival of the railway. This event changed the destiny of the entire territory. Indeed, exports were able to begin and the economy therefore took off.

The “Glory of Corrèze”

Today production has decreased significantly, it is only practiced by a few nostalgic people. The Objatois, who experienced the heyday of the pea, are not short of anecdotes concerning this local vegetable. They will tell you in particular that it is the “Gloire de Corrèze” pea variety that boosted production.

The pea remains in the memory and represents a true local product. You will be able to attend the pea festival in Objat on the last Sunday of May. Free tasting, exhibition of equipment, delivery on horseback as well as some walks will be there…
