Truffle Festival and Foie Gras Culinary Academy
The wedding of Sarlat, truffle and foie gras takes place in mid-January on the Place de la Liberté. On the program, cooking workshops, oenology classes, culinary competition, wine tasting session, tastings of the famous croustous (Sarlat tapas) and of course the truffle market. In the evening, a slightly crazy show is organized at the Cultural Center. Reservations recommended!
Goose Fest the 1st weekend of March
During the day, the streets of Sarlat are transformed into a mini-farm: cooking workshops, farm visits, fatty market, tasting... In the evening, a large bodega punctuated by bandas enchants the medieval city. On Sunday, more than 900 guests gather at the Cultural Center and under the marquee for a gargantuan banquet! Fourteen dishes on the menu: with unlimited goose foie gras, pâtés, rillettes, duck breast, confit, gizzards, tasty dishes prepared by the best regional chefs... Try this culinary experience which takes place in an atmosphere musical and warm.
Terroir days
Every year, Thursday and Friday of Ascension are local days. This is an opportunity to discover or rediscover the diversity of Périgord Noir products: the first strawberries of the season, the noix dried and processed (cakes, kernels, spread, etc.), fatty poultry (goose, duck) and other charcuterie products. Numerous activities in the streets, a farm in the heart of the city for the pleasure of adults and children.
Theater Games Festival
This festival, created in 1952, takes place from the end of July to the beginning of August and offers a rich program! Liberty Square serves as a natural setting and is transformed into a gigantic, open-air stage. An eclectic program, debate meetings, carte blanche for all audiences with renowned actors await you.
Days of taste and gastronomy
Meet at Place de la Grande Rigaudie on the 4th weekend of September, to celebrate pastoral lamb and Sarladaise potatoes. Market, cooking workshops, demonstration, producer stands, tasting and meals are planned.
For early risers, a transhumance hike is organized from a nearby village and offers gourmet breaks.
Film festival
The 7th Art is in the spotlight in the medieval city with this festival which is part of the big leagues, with a diverse program: official selections of short and feature films, high school program, conferences... See you in mid-November.
Christmas in Sarlat
For three weeks, make way for the magic of Christmas. Listed as one of the most beautiful Christmas markets in France, the medieval city can be proud! Entertainment in the streets, 70 chalets, warm chestnuts and Christmas beer, XXL ice rink… the Christmas spirit reigns here.

In Sarlat, you will inevitably fall under the spell of an ancient town like no other. If you go there in mid-January, you will inevitably also fall under the spell of the truffle that we celebrate for a weekend. Large truffle market, tastings of truffle croustous, digging demonstrations (searching for truffles with a dog), culinary courses... There's only one for truffles. Well, not quite, because foie gras, its best friend, is also there.
