Very nice project to rehabilitate a vineyard in Le Saillant.
At the beginning of the 90s, a group of around fifteen enthusiasts decided to revive the vineyards of the Vézère slopes. None of them were winemakers. They had to learn everything from growing vines to marketing wine.
In an innovative approach, they created a new model, where all the winegrowers are owners of the vineyard and associated winegrowers.
Their vineyard is spread out on steep hillsides, a land of schist and slate. Their wines find their elegance thanks to this local terroir. You can find white grape varieties (Chenin, Sauvignon Gris, Chardonnay, etc.) and black grape varieties (Merlot and Cabernet Franc).
Today two cellars are open to the public. You will meet the winegrowers who will share their history and their terroir with you:
Wine and Vézère are serious. These two have known each other since the XNUMXth century when the first vines were planted on the hillsides above the peaceful river. After a few arguments as happens in an old couple, here they are once again united for the best: a range of dry, mellow whites, quality reds and rosés. It's up to you to taste them in one of the cellars of the Coteaux de la Vézère after a stroll at a place called la Bontat where vines were once cultivated on terraces.
